FRACTURE DISLOCATION OF SPINE

A dislocation of the spine refers to the displacement of one or more vertebrae from their normal alignment. This can lead to instability, neurological complications, and severe pain. Dislocations are often traumatic injuries and require immediate medical attention. Spinal dislocation is when ligaments are over-stretched or ruptured (torn), which allows the spine to move out of line or vertebrae to ‘lock’ over each other. This can also cause a spinal cord injury.

Causes

Treatment

Rehabilitation

Depending on the severity of the dislocation, a brace may be used to immobilize the spine during the healing process, followed by guided spinal physiotherapy.
